About This Tea
Pu'erh Tea - Make Lasting Connections is an exceptional aged tea from Yunnan Province, China—the birthplace of tea itself and home to some of the world's oldest tea trees. Pu'erh (also spelled Pu-erh or Puer) is one of the most unique and revered tea categories in Chinese tea culture, celebrated for its distinctive earthy character, smooth finish, and remarkable ability to improve with age, much like fine wine.
This premium Shu Pu'erh (ripe/cooked pu'erh) undergoes a traditional fermentation process called "wo dui" (wet piling), where tea leaves are carefully moistened, piled, and allowed to ferment under controlled conditions. This ancient technique, perfected over centuries, transforms the tea's character—mellowing harsh tannins, developing deep earthy notes, and creating a smooth, comforting brew that is gentle on the stomach. Sourced from sustainable tea gardens in Yunnan's mountainous regions, each cup tells the story of ancient tea traditions, skilled craftsmanship, and the profound connection between tea and community. Pu'erh is traditionally shared among friends and family—a tea that makes lasting connections.
Ingredients
- Yunnan Pu'erh Tea: Premium aged Shu Pu'erh (ripe pu'erh) from Yunnan Province, China
Brewing Guide
- Water Temperature: 200–212°F (93–100°C) - Boiling water is ideal
- Tea Amount: 1–1.5 teaspoons per 8 oz cup (or 5–7g for gongfu brewing)
- Steeping Time: 3–5 minutes for first infusion (or 10–20 seconds for gongfu style)
- Infusions: Can be steeped 6–10+ times, increasing steeping time with each infusion
- Best Practices: Rinse the leaves with hot water for 5–10 seconds before the first steep to "awaken" the tea and remove any dust. Use filtered or spring water for optimal flavor. Pu'erh is ideal for gongfu-style brewing in a Yixing clay teapot or gaiwan, which allows you to experience the tea's evolving character across many infusions.
